Fundraising in schools is still allowed but will need the approval of the Permanent Secretary of Education, however, fundraising outside of a school compound will not need any approval from the Education Ministry.

This was highlighted by the Divisional Education Officer Central Ronald Krishna in a talanoa session during the Naitasiri Provincial Council meeting when asked why the Ministry of Education is forbidding fundraising in schools.

Nabena villager and Chairman of Vunidawa District School, Joseva Salei says they would like to do fundraising to assist in the renovation of the school and teachers' quarters, but fundraising is forbidden in schools.

He questioned the Education Ministry as to why they have not allowed fundraising in schools.

Responding to Salei’s question, the Divisional Education Officer Central Ronald Krishna says fundraising is still allowed in school but it will need the approval from the PS Education.
