The Fiji Airways flight FJ450 from Christchurch to Nadi, which experienced a bird strike shortly after take-off this morning, has landed safely after circling in the air for almost two hours above Canterbury.
Fiji Airways says its engineering team will now carry out the necessary inspections and maintenance checks on the aircraft.
They say their reservations and customer care teams are assisting affected guests with new travel arrangements and onward connections.
The airline had earlier said the aircraft was holding safely in the air to burn fuel and reach the required landing weight before returning to land.
The airline has assured that all guests and crew are safe on board.
Fiji Airways has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked guests for their patience and understanding, reaffirming that safety remains their highest priority.
