Drivers are advised to plan their journey as the Fiji Roads Authority will be closing Fletcher Road between Statham Road and Laucala Bay Road this weekend to facilitate the installation of a cross-culvert drainage pipe.

FRA says the installation of the cross-culvert will begin at 9pm Saturday and is expected to be completed by 3pm Sunday.

They say this work is part of their efforts to address long-standing drainage issues in the area and reduce flooding along Fletcher Road and Laucala Bay Road during periods of heavy rainfall.

They add traffic directed towards Laucala Bay Road and Fletcher Road will be diverted via Beach Road and Statham Road, and only residents within the work zone will be permitted to pass through the work site.

FRA further says several safety measures will be implemented, and traffic controllers will be stationed on-site to manage vehicle movement, while clear signs and barriers will guide both drivers and people.

FRA is advising people to expect minor delays and proceed with caution through the worksite and detour routes.
