Families in lockdown areas in Tramline, Qima Settlement, and Nawajikuma in Nadi today received 567 grocery and essential items packs and cash assistance from the Government.

They have received their third and fourth grocery and essential items packs apart from other assistance provided by the Government.

62 year old, Josua Raivanua says the grocery and essential item packs are enough for his family and this is the fourth pack they have received.

He says they have also received cash assistance from the Government and while some are still complaining, they have to always remain thankful for whatever is provided to them during this time.

Raivanua also called on his fellow Fijians to get vaccinated.

58 year old, Mahendra Kumar who received his third grocery and essential item pack says they do not have a choice but to stay home because of this lockdown and are thankful that government is still looking after them.

Kumar says they also received the $50 cash assistance which they will use to pay bills and buy more food for the family.

Two grocery and essential item packs are given to families with more than 6 members in a household.

According to the Government, a total of 700 grocery and essential item packs were delivered to Nadi yesterday however only 567 packs were distributed today as some of those in lockdown areas are currently in quarantine facilities.
