Dane Coles believes that senior players will have to lift their performance to turn things around for the All Blacks because of their poor record last year.

The veteran hooker says he felt experienced players let the side down last year with their 50 percent record and they have taken a good look at themselves and how can they make this team better.

He says it is about getting better every day and having the walk the talk attitude in getting this team back to where it has been for so long. The All Blacks have named a powerful side for their first match this year with the likes of Sam Whitelock, Scott Barrett, Akira Ioane, Richie Mo'unga, Rieko Ioane, George Bridge and Damian McKenzie in the starting 15.

The All Blacks first match will be against Tonga at 7.05 tonight.
