Former Lavidi Brothers player and Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s National 7s rep George Bose is aiming to make his family proud when he takes part in the HSBC Dubai 7s this week.

Bose is one of the two new players who is expected to make their international 7s debut for Fiji in the Dubai 7s this weekend.

Bose says rugby has always been more than just a game to him as it is a potential avenue for supporting his family financially.

The man from Draiba Village in Navosa started his rugby journey with Yamacia Rugby Club, before moving to Tabadamu, and later joined the Lavidi Brothers Rugby Club.

He was scouted by national 7s coach Osea Kolinisau during the Kadavu 7s last month.

Bose says this is his second call-up and it's important for him to make use of the opportunity.

He further says that he has seen how tough it is to make it to the national level as it takes so much hard work and dedication.

Bose hopes to earn a contract that would allow him to give back financially to his family.

He adds the commitment they put into training can make all the difference because training with the national team is on another level entirely, and every session is a reminder of the dedication it takes to stay in the game.

Fiji's first match is against Spain at 6.06pm Saturday, they will then take on the USA at 9.52pm before they play New Zealand at 3.16am Sunday in their final pool match.

The men’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 6.48pm Sunday, the semi finals will start at 10.06pm Sunday and the cup final will be at 4.11am Monday.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s is in Pool A alongside Ireland, Australia, and China.

They will take on Ireland at 5.44pm Saturday in their first pool match, they will then face Australia at 9.05pm and play China at 1.13am Sunday in their final pool match.

The women’s cup quarterfinals will kick off at 5.20pm Sunday, the semi finals will begin at 9.12pm, and the cup final will be at 3.35am Monday.
