It was a special day at the Suva Corrections Centre, where 43 inmates received a heartwarming visit from representatives of the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.

Fiji Corrections Service says the visiting team, which included Trustee Chair of the Sabha and Shree Sanatan Dharm Sewa Samiti of Fiji, Mahesh K. Mishra, Pundit Suresh Maharaj, Pundit Krishna Chandra, and JP Ashish Prasad, delivered religious texts, dharmic literature, and bhajan books to the inmates.

Acting Commissioner of Corrections Sevuloni Naucukidi called the initiative a historic and groundbreaking milestone.

He says it was encouraging to see the inmates’ reception — they showed deep interest.

He says inmates requested holy scriptures, kirtan and bhajan books, and ritual guides for their spiritual upliftment.

Naucukidi says the work of rehabilitation is not something they can do alone, so they always welcome those who can assist them, especially faith-based groups.

Fiji Corrections Service says this visitation is part of a broader plan — with Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji and the FCS currently working on a Standard Preaching and Visitation Protocol, aiming to ensure consistency, uphold religious standards, and deliver effective spiritual services across all major corrections facilities in Fiji.
