Flash flood warning for all low lying areas & small streams near major rivers in Vanua Levu and Viti Levu

A Tropical Cyclone Alert is now in force for Fiji and you should expect heavy rain, strong winds, flooding and potential storm surges as Tropical Depression 05F which is located East of Vanuatu is expected to develop into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Nadi Weather Office says TD05F has a very high potential to intensify into a cyclone.

It is currently moving slowly and is expected to track towards Fiji in the next 24 to 48 hours.

A flash flood warning is in force for all low lying areas and small streams near major rivers in Vanua Levu and Viti Levu.

You should prepare now for flash flooding if you live in a low lying area.

If you live near Qawa River in Labasa, Vunivau, Vunika, Soasoa flat and Korotari flat, take necessary precautions as a flood warning is in place for your area.

You should also expect flash flooding if you live in Rakiraki Town, low lying areas at Nasivi in Tavua, low lying areas near Sigatoka River and Nadi.

Expect damaging winds for Yasawa group, Vanua Levu and Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

There is also a strong wind warning in place for Viti Levu, Mamanuca Group, Kadavu and Lomaiviti group.
