The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has lost to France 17-14 in the quarter finals of the Cape Town 7s.

Fijian born winger and French forward Virimi Vakatawa played a huge role in the French victory as he gave his fellow countryman a taste of their own medicine.

Vakatawa set up two tries with his outstanding offloads and power.

Meanwhile the Fijian side were pressured early in the first half and were not able to capitalize on some opportunities they had.

Fiji's tries was scored by Savenaca Rawaca and Jasa Veremalua while Isake Katonibau failed to score his try after a pressure defence from a French player.

They will now meet the loser of Australia and South Africa in the Plate semifinals.

The plate semis will be at 2.50am tomorrow.

The Cup final will be held at 6.30am tomorrow.
