The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji officer has received international recognition, after graduating with a Master of Laws in International Maritime Law from the International Maritime Law Institute.
Lesianawai, who has family ties to Vuna in Taveuni through her father and Yavu Village in Batiki through her mother, was also selected to deliver the valedictory address on behalf of the Institute's 2025–2026 graduating class. She also received the Best Performance Prize in recognition of her academic excellence and leadership.
Lesianawai spent her childhood in the village and attended Batiki District School before continuing her education. She has remained closely connected to her home through reg ular visits and family gatherings.Growing up on an island where the sea is central to daily life, inspired her passion for the maritime industry. She now serves at the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji, helping to promote safe maritime transport and protect Fiji's waters.

Her achievement is a proud moment for her family and an inspiration to young people in Batiki, Lomaiviti and across Fiji, showing that determination and hard work can open doors to opportunities on the world stage.
