Man driving alleged stolen vehicle arrested after police interception in Wailoku

A man allegedly driving a stolen vehicle has been arrested after police intercepted him in Wailoku, damaging a police vehicle during the operation yesterday.

Police say the vehicle had been reported stolen from Davuilevu Housing on Thursday, and its details were circulated to officers around the country.

The vehicle was later spotted in Lami before being seen again in Wailoku, where officers from the Eastern Division Crime Intelligence Unit, Southern Division Operations and the Quick Response Team responded.

According to Police, the driver, who has a known criminal history, tried to flee the scene stressing the officers used a police vehicle to block the suspect's path, resulting in damage to the police vehicle.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations into the alleged theft continue.
