Kai Havertz opened the scoring as defending champions Arsenal began their Premier League title defence with a convincing 3-0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.
Havertz found the back of the net in the 15th minute before Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal's lead eight minutes later to give them a 2-0 advantage going into the break.
Captain Martin Odegaard sealed the victory four minutes into the second half.
Arsenal will resume their Premier League campaign with an away match against Aston Villa at 7am next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in other matches, Manchester United will meet Hull City at 11.30pm, while at 2am, Everton face Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town meet Sunderland and Nottingham Forest play Leeds United.
Brentford will also take on Tottenham Hotspur at 4.30am.
