Shree Guru Nanak Khalsa College has made history after defeating Penang Sangam College 3–1 in extra time to reach the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship 2026 U19 semi-final for the first time.
The quarter-final was tightly contested, with both teams creating chances but failing to score in the first half.
Guru Nanak Khalsa broke the deadlock after the restart with a well-taken header. Penang Sangam was then awarded a penalty after a handball inside the box, but the spot kick was missed.
The match went into extra time, where Guru Nanak Khalsa took control. They scored from the penalty spot in the first period before adding a third goal in the second period to seal a memorable 3–1 victory.
Coach Riaz Khan described the match as a tough encounter, praising his players for their fighting spirit and determination to score when it mattered most.
Khan also thanked the team's sponsors and supporters for their continued support throughout the competition.
The semi-final action begins at 8am today, with Guru Nanak facing Tavua College, which booked its place in the last four after defeating Vashist Muni College 5-4 on penalties.
The second U19 semi-final will kick off at 9.30am, with Ba Sangam College taking on Labasa College.
Ba Sangam secured its semi-final spot after a hard-fought 1–0 win over Vunimono High School, while Labasa College progressed after defeating Labasa Muslim College 2-0.
Meanwhile, in other matches, Central College Lautoka takes on AD Patel College in the U15 final at 11am, while the U17 final will be between Labasa Muslim College and Ba Sangam College at 12.30pm.
The Open Girls final between Dreketi Central College and Tavua College will kick off at 2pm at Subrail Park in Labasa.
