More FM host in New Zealand, Simon Barnett was left heartbroken this morning after it was revealed the man he thought was Hollywood legend Tom Cruise was, in fact, an impostor.
Barnett told his listeners he was unable to sleep last night because he was buzzing with excitement for his interview with Cruise.
He said that this is a bit embarrassing – he is a 50‑year old man, but Tom Cruise is kind of his man crush. He said I love you on air to Cruise.
Cruise is currently in New Zealand to film Mission Impossible 6 in the remote Rees Valley, Otago.
Barnett and co‑host Gary McCormick spoke with who the man they thought was Tom Cruise for 15 minutes about his career and movies, even setting up a time to meet up for a drink.
But towards the end of the interview, there were other voices on the line.
The Edge host Dominic Harvey and Jay‑Jay Harvey broke into the interview, telling the More FM presenters that the man on the line was actually an imposter.
