One of Fiji’s top musicians, Inoke Kalounisiga better known as Knox is releasing his new album next month and two of his songs from this album will be released on Legend FM’s facebook feature, Local Vocal at 10am today.

In an interview with FijiVillage, Knox shared his journey of wanting to pursue music even if it meant going against what his parents believed was best for his future.

Knox says that at the age of 19 he defied all odds to make his passion his career and started out as a guitarist for a band in 2003.

He says that he was assisted by a number of people who believed in his talent who helped him along the way and he believes that being around the right people can help other budding local artists grow their passion in the same way that it has helped him.

He says his biggest challenge was overcoming his fear of singing in front of a microphone and for three years he performed as a guitarist but continued to write music.

The 35 year old who is the oldest of three siblings says that once he began his music career with his first single “Jah Love, Jah Crucify” in 2007 he was also determined to set an example for his younger brothers.

Knox adds that the response from his first single was overwhelming and this solidified his belief in his dream and paved the way for his other singles and albums.

He says that there were ups and downs through the years however he made it a point to continue to release music every year.

Knox says that he is excited about his latest album adding that as he got older his song writing has matured and portrays a refined side of his music.

Knox is releasing two of his singles “ Buna Lele Mai” and “In Your Mind” on LegendFM Local Vocal today. He has also done “Jah Love Jah Crucify” on Local Vocal and it will also be released today. You can also check this out on fijivillage.com

When questioned on what his plans for the near future, Knox stressed that now it is about building a thriving music industry that he hopes to achieve by assisting young artists and focusing on creating more local content that can be played locally and internationally.
