Labasa College has booked its place in the Under-19 final of the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Ba Sangam College at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Labasa College made a strong start to the match and took a 2-1 lead into the second half.
With just 10 minutes remaining, Ba Sangam fought back to score the equaliser and level the match at 2-all, forcing the game into extra time.
Both teams pushed for the winning goal during extra time, with the match remaining 2-all at the end of extra time.
The semi-final was then decided by penalties, with Labasa College holding their nerve to win 5-4.
Labasa College coach Roneel Ram told fijivillage Sports that it was a tough and highly competitive match.
Ram praised Ba Sangam College for their performance and singled out their goalkeeper, saying he is one of the best goalkeepers in the competition.
He has also called on Labasa supporters to come out and support the team in the final.
Ram thanked the team's supporters and sponsors for their continued backing.
Labasa College will face Tavua College in the U19 final at 3.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Under-15 final between Central College Lautoka and AD Patel College is currently underway.
Labasa Muslim College faces Ba Sangam College in the Under-17 final at 12.30pm, while the Open Girls final between Dreketi Central College and Tavua College will kick off at 2pm.
