The section of road pavement at the Armco crossing has experienced a slip and is currently flooded underneath.

The Fiji Roads Authority says their team is on site and awaiting the water level to recede before carrying out a full assessment to determine the appropriate restoration works to be implemented.

They say in the meantime, traffic has been diverted via Nadiri Road before the affected site, through Sanasana Village, then towards Veisabasaba Village, linking past Tuva Indian School and reconnecting to Queens Road.

FRA says cars and light vehicles are being guided through by their team through this detour.

They say buses and heavy vehicles currently are not accessing this route.

For Buses however there is a change over method implemented whereby passengers cross over onto the other side to board the bus.

FRA says they are also closely exploring the establishment of a temporary diversion adjacent to the current slip section to safely redirect traffic along this section of Queens Road.

They say the objective is to implement a more resilient solution to strengthen this corridor against future events.

FRA adds they will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as assessments progress.
