The airstrip at Mulomulo in Nawaka, Nadi, is currently not a government priority.

This has been confirmed by the Minister for Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, when questioned about the airstrip built between 2017 and 2022 during the era of the previous government without the knowledge of the current administration or the public.

Gavoka states that the airstrip is not authorized for operation and must undergo the standard approval process before it can be used.

He says that the facility has been dormant for some time and was not previously addressed because other projects required immediate attention.

He also says steps are being taken to prevent unauthorized use of the airstrip.

Concerned people raised the matter with fijivillage News, alleging that helicopters have been landing there and transporting large quantities of goods.

The issue has also been referred to the Fiji Police Force, which is yet to make any comments.
