A family of 10 at Suva Street in Toorak are worried about where they will sleep tonight after their home was destroyed in a fire this evening.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Maikeli Vulakeibau says he was at work when he received a call from his family informing him that their house was on fire.

Vulakeibau says his daughter and grandchildren were at home when the fire began, but he is grateful that no lives were lost.

He says they have been living in the house for over six years.

He also stated that when he asked his daughter how the fire started, she said that while cooking dinner, she noticed one of the electrical wires in the kitchen beginning to spark.

She then switched off the electricity and started using the gas for cooking.

Vulakeibau adds that he is thankful none of his family members were injured despite losing everything, which can be replaced.

He is urging members of the public who are willing to assist with a kind heart to contact him on mobile number 2724727, which is also registered on M-PAiSA.
