Major General Jone Kalouniwai, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, Minister for Defence, Pio Tikoduadua and Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu
As Police continue investigations into the screenshots alleging a link of some Police officers with the drug network in the country, the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Jone Kalouniwai has not made any comments after Commander of the Joint Task Force Command at Blackrock Camp in Nadi, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai offered to assist or even lead the Inter-Agency Joint Counter Drugs Operation from the Blackrock Camp.

While replying to emails being circulated about the screenshots, Brigadier General Gadai asked if this is actually happening and that it is shocking indeed.

He then said that he is happy to assist or even lead the operation from the Blackrock Camp.

Brigadier General Gadai went on to say that after all there is a war against drugs in Fiji, as highlighted by our parliamentarians in Suva late last year.

He also said that there should be a clear and unambiguous drug law passed in Parliament.

Minister for Defence, Pio Tikoduadua says the Counter Narcotics Bureau is now under the Ministry of Policing.

Tikoduadua says there is a process by the Ministry of Policing to select the head of Counter Narcotics Bureau.

He says Brigadier General Gadai is most welcome to apply for it when the Ministry of Policing advertises the post.

The Minister says the Bureau is independent of the RFMF, and by law Brigadier General Gadai cannot be an active soldier and head the Counter Narcotics Bureau too.

We have sought comments from Major General Kalouniwai.

Brigadier General Gadai has not made any further comments.

Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu confirms that the investigation into the screenshots continue.
