QVS and RKS dominate 1,500m finals

Rosivela Matanimeke won gold for Queen Victoria School in the Senior Boys 1,500 at the 2026 Coca-Cola Games with a strong finish.

In the girls' category, Glandness Simpson won gold for Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School. 

Jale Raikatalau won the first gold for Ratu Kadavulevu School in the Intermediate 1,500 metres at this year's Coca-Cola Games.

Lusia Nenewa of Thomas Baker Memorial School won gold in the 1,500 metres girls category.

In the Junior Boys category, Marika Kelekelevesi also secured gold for RKS.

In the Junior Girls’ 1,500 metres, Sylvia Tagivetaua won gold for Jasper Williams High School.

Tagivetaua victory also delivered the first gold medal for her school.

 


Lawrence Nawanibau of Marist Brothers High School delivered a dominant performance to win gold in the Sub-Junior Boys 1,500 metres at the Coca-Cola Games 2026.

He surged ahead early, opened up a 30-metre gap, and maintained his lead through to the final lap to secure victory.

In the girls 1,500 metres final, Divuniwaqa Resina of Dreketi Central College produced a strong late finish, sprinting in the final 200 metres to claim gold.
