The CFL Foundation Charity Walk has drawn overwhelming support, with thousands donating to help children living with cancer.

Senior Content Director Satya Nand says the response from the public, volunteers and supporting organisations has been overwhelming.

He also thanked the Sikh community in Nausori for their strong support, as well as police officers who assisted along the route, ensuring safety while allowing the walk to proceed smoothly.

Nand confirms that more than $77,000 had already been raised before the walk began, with the final total to be announced once all nationwide collections are compiled.

He describes the initiative as a true team effort, acknowledging those who helped organise the walk, including staff members, management and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to ensure the event was successful and inclusive.

Meanwhile, fijivillage News Director Vijay Narayan says the early turnout in Nausori was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for the right reason.

Narayan stresses that this is not being done as a promotional activity, but as part of the CFL Foundation’s responsibility to use its reach to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

He highlighted the organisation’s long-standing role in fundraising efforts.

Narayan describes the response from people as powerful and deeply moving, saying that when you put smiles on the faces of children and know you are doing it for the right purpose, nothing can sway you from that.

He says that support for this year’s walk has come not only from within Fiji but also from the diaspora around the world, showing widespread commitment to the cause.

According to recent statistics from WOWS Kids Fiji, there are currently 70 children under the age of 18 living with cancer.

CFL, the parent company of FM96, LegendFM, VITIFM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam, and the country’s leading digital news platform fijivillage, launched its new charitable trust, the CFL Foundation, in September last year, with the company contributing 5 percent of the Group’s profit after tax.

For decades, CFL has been dedicated to community service, regularly stepping up to help children with special needs, those facing serious health issues like cancer, and families impacted by natural disasters.
