The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side were edged 24-19 by Argentina after they put on a disappointing performance in their last pool game at the HSBC SVNS Vancouver 2024 and will meet New Zealand in the cup quarters.

Argentina easily starved the Fiji team of possession by controlling the ball and regathering the kickoffs an area that coach Ben Gollings said they were going to work on earlier in the week.

Joseva Talacolo was shown a yellow card for taking out an Argentina player in the air just before half time.

The side was not quite playing as a team with there being no support runner to pass to, and most times Kaminieli Rasaku not passing to his team mates who were free outside of him.

In their earlier pool games they had easily cruised past Spain 31-12 before beating hosts Canada 22-12.

The men’s cup quarterfinals kick off at 2.22pm with USA playing Great Britain, Argentina will face Samoa at 2.44pm and then Fiji play rivals New Zealand at 3.06pm.

The cup semi finals start at 8.45am tomorrow with the final at 1.23pm tomorrow.
