SODELPA’s Tanya Waqanika is expected to fill the parliamentary seat left vacant by Sitiveni Rabuka while there is also confirmation that a vote for the new parliamentary leader for SODELPA may be taken tomorrow.

Waqanika got 1,933 votes in the 2018 general elections.

Opposition Whip, Lynda Tabuya says they had a caucus meeting and they will wait for Parliament to inform the Electoral Commission to confirm the replacement for Rabuka as a Member of Parliament.

Tabuya says the SODELPA parliamentary caucus will vote for the party’s parliamentary leader before taking the name to Parliament for the Leader of the Opposition.

She says no possible names have been discussed and no vote was taken for parliamentary leader today.

Viliame Gavoka is the SODELPA Leader however there is no confirmation at this stage that he will be the parliamentary leader and the next Leader of the Opposition.
