Amongst the traditional forms of media, radio is the most personal as we speak to our listeners and online users on a daily basis.

This has been highlighted by Communications Fiji Limited General Manager, Charles Taylor on World Radio Day.

CFL, the parent company of LegendFM, FM96, VitiFM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam and fijivillage is hosting listeners today as part of the World Radio Day celebrations at our home at 231 Waimanu Road in Suva.

The visits, tours and entertainment continue this hour after an anti gravity radio cake was cut in the last hour for the listeners.

Taylor says people listen to the radio everywhere, from the breakfast table, on the bus, at work and in intimate settings as well.

He says at CFL, World Radio Day is a reminder of the job that we have to inform and to entertain our audience on a daily basis which is something that we do in times of crises, good times, 24/7.

Taylor says it is also a day of celebration for us as we enjoy doing what we do.

He reminisces that he started as a part time radio personality in FM96 in 1995, before working his way up to Music Director and then Content Director for FM96 and Legend FM, handling New Business before moving to Papua New Guinea for six years.

Taylor says the one constant that he has noticed through the years is just how great the radio industry is and how the music has been a constant throughout.

Legend FM and FM96 are also having their auditions today and they are inviting anyone who knows that they have what it takes to join the radio family.

CFL’s first radio station, FM96 started on July 5th 1985. It was the first ever 24 hour radio station in the country and also the first ever FM radio station.
