Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka stresses that two years is not enough time to fix the roads in Vanua Levu after the Opposition MP, Ketan Lal said that Rabuka has failed the people of Vanua Levu as the condition of the roads in Savusavu to Labasa is beyond disgraceful and it is a betrayal of the trust placed in the Prime Minister by the people.

Lal says what used to be a thriving tourist destination is now riddled with potholes, crumbling infrastructure, and dangerous stretches that threaten lives every single day.

He says there has been two years of big talk and no walk, and he asked the Prime Minster what exactly has he done for Vanua Levu.

Lal says the Minister for Finance says there's money, and Lal asks where is it.

He also asks what is the Minister responsible for Roads doing.

Lal challenges the Prime Minister to take a tour of the North with Lal – and with no media fanfare, and no advance notice.

He says he will take Rabuka personally to these roads and show him the extent of the damage the government has ignored.

He also provided pictures he took himself.

Lal says stop hiding behind speeches and PR, and come walk the roads with him.

When questioned by fijivillage News, Prime Minister Rabuka says it will take more than two years to put on to Vanua Levu roads the results of planning, negotiations, staging and building the Road Upgrading Programme valued at $200 million.

Rabuka says this agreement has been sealed between Fiji and China to complement the Vanua Levu Tourism Development including Airports Increased Capacity facilities to prepare for the three major hotel developments in the Salt Lake area of Natewa, and North East of the Macuata coast.
