Fiji Music Comp winner - Adi Asenaca Tusaqa, flanked by her proud parents and grandfather

Adi Asenaca Tusaqa, from Naduri Village in Macuata, Vanua Levu, has won the Fiji Music Comp 2023.

Adi Asenaca or Mia as commonly known to her family says she is so happy after winning first place and $5,000 in the Fiji Music Comp 2023.

When fijivillage News asked her what she was planning to do with her winnings, she says what she set out to do.

Mia says while she was nervous at first it also gave her a boost.

An emotional Talei Draunibaka, Mia’s mom says she is just bursting with so much pride.

Draunibaka says it was almost a flashback of her career seeing Mia performing on stage today.

She says she cannot describe the joy and the pride of seeing her child achieve something like this, it is beyond explanation.

Draunibaka says her 74-year-old father has been working on his boat for the last couple of months and only one thing was left.

She says they definitely did something right for her to care for her grandfather the way she does.

The proud mom says her husband Nemani has been helping Mia a lot on this journey as she decided to step back, because she did not want to use her experience to limit Mia’s creativity. She says experience is the toughest teacher and she wanted Mia to experience everything on her own.
