Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says people can expect an announcement soon in relation to how the Fiji National Provident Fund can help those members who are still unemployed as a result of COVID-19 and need urgent assistance in regards to their home loan repayments.

Sayed-Khaiyum confirms they are currently talking to FNPF.

He says they do not want people to lose their homes through mortgage sales.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds they do not want people to keep their pension and not have a roof over their head.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this is targeted only for home loan repayments.

The Minister for Economy says they will also be meeting with the banks next week and discuss the matter pertaining to home loans.
