The captain of the Fijiana 7s team Rusila Nagasau says they are at the Olympic Games to create history.

She told the Associated Press that it is will be a big thing for them to be the first women in Fiji to win a gold medal.

Nagasau says that is their aim right now, to make history.

She adds it’s all about the nation.

Nagasau says the nation sent them to the Olympics to do a job, not just for them and their families, but for the country.

The Fijiana have been the biggest movers in the tournament.

Regardless of the result today, they are guaranteed to play in a medal match at Tokyo Stadium.

Their win over Canada in the group stage had a big role in the 2016 bronze medalists missing the knockout rounds and last night they created history in the Olympic Games when they beat defending champions Australia 14-12 in the quarterfinal.

Fiji had finished in 8th place in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Fijiana 7s team will face New Zealand at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the first semifinal followed by the clash between France and Great Britain at 2.30 this afternoon.

The losers from the semifinals will face-off in the bronze medal match at 8.30 tonight.

The gold medal match is at 9 tonight.
