The High Court has today refused an application by the Fiji Law Society to allow the Kings Counsel Laura O'Gorman from New Zealand to appear via video link in the Richard Naidu case.

Romanu Vananalagi, who is representing the Fiji Law Society had informed the court last Thursday that the King’s Counsel will assist the Fiji Law Society independently.

Vananalagi also stated they did not have the funds to pay for her continuous visits to Fiji for the trial and other expenses.

He also made an application to join the committal proceeding brought by Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum against Naidu.

The matter will be heard on the 26th of this month, while the hearing on the substantive matter will be called on the 29th of this month.

Vananalagi then told the High Court that the dates were not suitable as instructed by lawyer Adish Narayan, who will be conducting the hearing.

However, Judge Justice Jude Nanayakkara told Vananalagi that the hearing dates have been set.

Naidu allegedly posted on his Facebook page a picture of a judgement in a case represented by his associate that had the word 'injunction' misspelt, and then made some comments that he was pretty sure the applicant wanted an injunction.
