The CWM Hospital infrastructure upgrade plan has received a timely donation from the BSP Financial Group Limited, which has donated $100,000 to the International Women’s Association who will carry out the work at the hospital.

Announcing the donation at a cocktail event held at the Grand Pacific Hotel, BSP Group CEO Mark Robinson says BSP Bank in Fiji has a budget of $100,000 this year for their community projects.

He says they recognise that CWM Hospital needs major upgrade works and additional funding above the government's appropriation.

Robinson says he was told by the BSP Fiji Country Head, Haroon Ali and his team that there is a local NGO known as the International Women’s Association that has done some fantastic work with the upgrade works at the hospital and it has invested close to $1.2 million.

He adds given the Association’s experience and track record, BSP would like to donate these funds through the IWA to the CWM Hospital to complement the upgrading works at the hospital.

The BSP Group CEO says the fund will go to the upgrade of the in-patient ward at the CWM Hospital.

Acknowledging the donation, IWA President Judy Compain says they are very honoured that BSP chose IWA to be the beneficiary of the fund as part of its community social responsibility.

She says they have just completed the renovation of the operating theatre and the training room at the CWM Hospital on Sunday and it was handed over to the hospital on Monday.

Compain says the renovation has been significant and they intend to continue to do this work.

She adds with these funds, they would like to renovate the CWM Maternity Hospital, where they have just completed the bathrooms.

Minister for Health Dr Atonio Lalabalavu says these funds will ensure improved services at the hospital and a workable environment for the staff.
