At least three people have been killed and 21 others injured after a homemade explosive device detonated at an Italian restaurant in Moscow.
Russian state media report the blast occurred at Kudrinskaya Square, near the city centre.
Russia's National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAK) says a woman carrying the explosives attempted to enter the restaurant but was stopped by a security guard.
The device detonated, killing the woman, the security guard and a restaurant patron.
The restaurant, located in one of Moscow's famous Stalin-era skyscrapers, was hosting a private function at the time.
Authorities have not disclosed the guest list or identified who they believe may have been the target of the attack.
Witnesses say they saw people covered in blood being brought out after the explosion.
Initial reports suggested the blast occurred in the restaurant's kitchen, but the restaurant later said the incident happened outside.
Roads around the square were briefly closed.
Dozens of cyclists had been gathering nearby for an evening ride through the city, but the event was cancelled.
Video released by Russia's RIA news agency showed heavily armed law enforcement officers at the scene, which was cordoned off to the public.
In recent years, several senior Russian military figures have been assassinated in and around the Russian capital.
Moscow has blamed Kyiv for those attacks.
