Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua says the Eastern Division has been directed to take a closer look at its operations following the assaults of two taxi drivers in Wainibokasi this month.
Speaking to fijivillage News in Labasa, Naivalurua says the issue is an operational one that falls under the responsibility of the Eastern Division Commander rather than a policy matter.
He says these are routine operations that are managed by the division responsible.
The Minister says he has noted the concerns and has sent a reminder to the Eastern Division Commander to address and resolve the matter.
We have again followed up with the police regarding the progress of the investigation, as the taxi drivers are calling for stern actions to be taken.
