Japan strengthened its FIFA World Cup knockout hopes with a convincing 4-0 victory over Tunisia in their Group F clash.

Daichi Kamada gave Japan the perfect start, opening the scoring in the 4th minute before Ayase Ueda doubled the advantage in the 31st minute to hand the Blue Samurai a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Japan continued to dominate after the break, with Junya Ito adding a third goal in the 69th minute before Ueda grabbed his second of the match in the 83rd minute to seal an emphatic win.

The victory puts Japan in a strong position heading into their final group match after they opened their campaign with a 2-all draw against the Netherlands.

Tunisia, meanwhile, remains without a point after suffering a 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match.

This is Japan's eighth FIFA World Cup appearance, with their best result being a Round of 16 finish on four occasions, while Tunisia is making its seventh World Cup appearance.

Japan will face Sweden in their final Group F match next Friday at 11am, while Tunisia will take on the Netherlands at the same time.

Tomorrow's FIFA World Cup matches will see Spain take on Saudi Arabia at 4am, Belgium face Iran at 7am, Uruguay meet Cape Verde at 10am, while New Zealand and Egypt will go head-to-head at 1pm.
