Japan is on course for a crucial FIFA World Cup victory after taking a 2-0 lead over Tunisia at halftime in their Group F clash.

Daichi Kamada opened the scoring in the 4th minute before Ayase Ueda doubled Japan's advantage in the 31st minute.

Japan has controlled much of the first half and will be looking to secure all three points as they push for a place in the knockout stages.

Japan drew 2-all with the Netherlands in their opening pool match, while Tunisia suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden.

This is Japan's eighth FIFA World Cup appearance, with their best result being a Round of 16 finish on four occasions.

Tunisia is making its seventh World Cup appearance and is aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time in its history.

Japan will face Sweden in their final Group F match next Friday at 11am, while Tunisia will take on the Netherlands at the same time.

Tomorrow's FIFA World Cup matches will see Spain take on Saudi Arabia at 4am, Belgium face Iran at 7am, Uruguay meet Cape Verde at 10am, while New Zealand and Egypt will go head-to-head at 1pm.
