A 12‑year‑old US boy has become an unintended shooting victim after he and his father were caught in gunfire in Cleveland.
Five teenagers in hooded jackets were hanging outside One Stop Liquor and Beverage when still‑unknown suspects opened fire at them.
The boy and his father were inside a beauty supply store next door, owned by the father, when they heard gunshots and went out to see what was happening.
The boy was shot in the torso and died.
The five teenagers were injured.
Police believe the suspects were also juveniles.
No arrests have been made.
The boy's death came as Cleveland continues to see a growing number of homicides in recent years.
Last month, a 51‑year‑old man's death became the city's 100th homicide this year.
The city logged 136 homicides in 2016, up from 120 in 2015 and 102 in 2014, making last year the deadliest Cleveland has had in at least a decade.
