Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is set to celebrate a historic milestone this week as it marks 70 years of educating and empowering women through a week-long Platinum Jubilee celebration beginning tomorrow. 

The celebrations will bring together past and present students, staff, and members of the wider school community for a programme filled with faith, culture, sisterhood, reflection and celebration.

The Platinum Jubilee officially begins tomorrow with an Opening Mass at 10am at Mt St Mary’s Church.

The celebrations continue on Monday, September 7, with a morning fitness session at Zenergy Gym, followed by a welcome cocktail at the SJSS Hall at 5pm.

On Tuesday, September 8, the programme will feature a Law and Governance Breakfast at 8.30am at the Fiji Museum Café, followed by a visit to State House at Government House at 11am.

The evening will continue at the SJSS Hall from 6pm, with organisers promising an unforgettable evening of culture, laughter, sisterhood and music.

Wednesday, September 9, will begin with a morning walk at 7am, starting from the Suva Bowling Club and ending at the Nasese Seafront.

A post-walk breakfast will follow at 8.30am, hosted by the SJSS Alumnae medics, with a timely discussion on body autonomy.

The evening will feature a Flower Power Tekiteki Night at Paradiso Restaurant from 5pm, followed by an Island Night at the Suva Bowling Club at 6.30pm.

On Thursday, September 10, alumnae and guests will have the opportunity to explore the city during a Bus Tour of Old Suva, departing from Albert Park at 10am.

A prefects’ school tour will be held at 1pm, before the day concludes with the Bold and Beautiful 90s Quiz and Disco at 5pm at the Fiji Museum Deck.

Friday, September 11, will be the Jubilee Celebration Day, beginning at 9am at the SJSS School Hall.

The day will continue with a Pure Fiji tour and shopping experience at 12.30pm, followed by the SJSS Alumnae March at 3pm at the SJSS Sports Field.

The Platinum Legacy Cocktail and Fashion Show will then take centre stage at 6pm at the Fiji Museum Deck.

Next Saturday, will celebrate the diversity and richness of the Pacific with Pacific Market Day from 9.30am at the SJSS School Hall.

The celebrations will reach one of their major highlights that evening with the Pacific Elegance Gala at 6pm at the Vodafone Arena.

The week-long milestone will conclude on Sunday, September 13, with a Closing Mass at 1pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
