Shree Guru Nanak Khalsa College has become the first team to secure a place in the Under-19 quarter-finals of the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship in Labasa.
The side booked its spot after defeating MGM High School 3-1 in its final Pool A match today, finishing the pool stages unbeaten with seven points.
Guru Nanak began its campaign with a 0-0 draw against Vunimono High School before recording a 3-0 win over Ratu Navula College on Day One of the competition.
With defending champions Tabia Sanatan College not taking part in this year’s competition, a new Under-19 national champion will be crowned.
Meanwhile, Vunimono High School has strengthened its chances of joining Guru Nanak in the quarter-finals after a convincing 5-0 win over Ratu Navula College today.
Vunimono finished Pool A with five points and will now wait for the remaining pool results to determine whether it qualifies as one of the three best runners-up.
The competition will conclude this Saturday.
