The Goodman Fielder Fiji women's team has praised the Design & Creative Building Solutions Bula Business House Futsal Championship for providing women with a platform to compete, build confidence and showcase their talent in futsal.
Team Captain Ashika Prasad says opportunities such as the tournament go beyond hosting matches by creating spaces for women to participate and grow through sport.
Prasad says seeing women step onto the court, build confidence and demonstrate teamwork is an important part of the competition.
She hopes their participation will encourage more women to get involved in sport.
Prasad also thanked supporters who have backed the team throughout the tournament, as well as their opponents and spectators.
Meanwhile, Bula Events Group Director Alan Kumar says including a women's competition is an important component of this year's championship.
Kumar says they want to create an environment where women can participate, compete and enjoy the benefits of sport alongside their colleagues.
He says six women's teams are participating this year, with strong support coming from colleagues, families and spectators.
Kumar says the tournament also gives businesses an opportunity to promote teamwork, healthy living and stronger relationships among employees.
The Championship will continue next week with the remaining pool matches before teams progress to the elimination rounds at the Vodafone Arena.
