Alex and Victoria from LegendFM Breakfast learned Aerial Arts at Moana Loa Performing Arts Centre in Lami on this week’s episode of LegendFM SM Experience.

Aerial Arts is a type of practice or performance in which one or more artists perform aerial dance while hanging from a fabric.

Ateca Ravuvu and her friend Glenville Lord started the company together in 2015.

Ravuvu says the name Moana Loa was gifted to her by Lord.

She told us Moana Loa was the name given to Lord’s pet crab.

Ravuvu says there are a lot of reasons why dancing is so important and there are so many benefits like muscle strengthening and improving blood circulation.

She adds studies have shown that children who are more involved in dance excel a lot more in school and tend to be more creative.

Ravuvu says dance gives children confidence and the ability to express things they cannot express in words.

She further says through dance, we are able to tell stories and through storytelling we are able to find out more about others, history of a people and their culture.

Ravuvu says apart from dance - they teach drama, painting, vocal lessons for kids, fitness classes, aerial yoga and aerial arts.

She adds they offer classes for everyone over 1-year-old.
