Four police officers have been directed to take pending leave after investigations confirmed their direct involvement in the apprehension of the late Sakiasi Ose Radravu.
Police say the 12 officers involved in the arrest have been questioned by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department.
They say the four officers will be interdicted on half pay, followed by internal disciplinary proceedings conducted by the Internal Affairs Department.
Through the interview process, Police say it has been established that a lone officer from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces was involved, and not members of the Joint Task Force as earlier claimed.
They say that, with regard to Radravu’s death, a Death Register (DR) investigation file is being compiled for submission to the Resident Magistrate, with a recommendation for a full inquest.
Police say this development has been communicated to Radravu’s mother, his next of kin, who has also provided a signed statement acknowledging the findings.
The Fiji Police Force is also urging anyone who wishes to share information to do so through official reporting channels, adding that progress on the matter will only be communicated to Radravu’s mother.
