Tailors join Christmas Market Day to financially assist husbands

Aruna Devi and Urmila Wati.

Two women are selling clothes which they made themselves every Saturday at the Christmas Market Day at the YWCA Building in Suva to assist their husbands with the financial need of their families.

Urmila Wati and Aruna Devi run a small tailoring business.

They used to sell their products at the Suva Flea Market but had to move due to the fire incident in May.

Wati says after the fire, life was a struggle for them but they did not sit back and wait for assistance.

They went around from house to house to sell their products.

Wati says they were both inspired to take up this challenge as they were employed in the textile industry and saw that their talents can help their families financially during these hard times.

The Christmas Market Day is held every Saturday at the YWCA Building, behind Sukuna Park.
