Police are verifying claims of an alleged attempted child abduction at a school in Nausori after a social media post identified a man, who has denied the allegation, lodged a counter-report against the woman who made the post, and says he was at the school to see his daughter.
Following the circulation of the social media post, Nausori Police carried out initial enquiries and confirmed that investigations are continuing to establish the facts.
Police say more people are expected to be questioned as part of the investigation.
They have also confirmed that the man identified in the social media post has lodged a counter-report against the woman who made the allegation.
The man told Police he had gone to the school to see his daughter and not for the reasons claimed in the social media post.
He says he only became aware of the allegations after family members alerted him when they saw the post online, prompting him to lodge the report.
Police say the counter-report is also subject to the ongoing investigation.
They are stressing that investigations must be given time to be conducted properly and should not be rushed.

The Fiji Police Force is urging members of the public to report incidents directly to Police and allow investigators to carry out their work before drawing conclusions.
