A resident from Naselesele told fijivillage News the community has had little to no water since last Saturday, raising concerns about the continuing shortage.
Responding to questions from fijivillage News, the Water Authority of Fiji says it is aware of the issue and has received a high number of complaints from affected customers.
WAF says the prolonged dry spell has significantly reduced water levels at the Mua raw water source, affecting water production and supply across several communities.
The affected areas include Naselesele Village and Primary School, Valevatu Saioni, Vunikavika, Vunitarawa, New Town, Vatudovia, Vuniweleti, Nagasau, Wiwi Village, Raiwasa Hotel, Taveuni Palm, Maravu Resort, Tight Ridge, Coconut Grove and Matei Point.
WAF says its operations team is carrying out regular valve operations and water rationing to manage the limited supply and ensure water is distributed as fairly as possible among affected communities.
The Authority says normal water supply will only be fully restored once there is sustained rainfall and the island's raw water sources recover.
Questions have also been sent to the National Disaster Risk Management Office on assistance for the people of Taveuni.
