Sentence hearing for Cilicewa moved to 4th September
The sentence hearing for Anare Cilicewa, who has been found guilty of murdering his 28-year-old defacto partner Sabrina Shaheen Ali at a home in Raiwai in October 2024, has been moved to the 4th of September.

Cilicewa appeared before Suva High Court Judge Pita Bulamainavalu this morning.

Cilicewa's lawyer asked the court for time to make her sentence submissions.

Justice Bulamainaivalu informed both counsels that he will be in Labasa next month and asked if the case can be called in September.

He also informed both counsels that sentence hearing submissions should be handed in by the end of business on the 31st of August.

According to the post mortem the immediate cause of death was 'fatal asphxyia' caused by gagging or complete obstruction of the deceased's airways.

It was heard in court that Cilicewa wrapped the woman's body in a bed sheet and dragged her body down to the basement where it was eventually found by Police.
