Students are to be monitored while boarding buses to avoid overcrowding.
That is the directive from the Education Minister Filipe Bole who is concerned over the number of students some buses are carting which is in excess of the legal number allowed.
The concern was raised after an AK Naicker and Sons Ltd bus carrying student’s home after school was involved in a road accident in Nadi on Wednesday afternoon.
Bole said principals and head teachers are reminded to monitor students’ boarding school buses and ensure buses are loading the right number of students.
Meanwhile, President of the Fiji Bus Operators Association Zain Dean has urged all bus drivers to avoid overloading passengers.
