President to unveil Whippys tombstone in Bua

The President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will be chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of the first Whippy, David Whippy's tombstone at Wainunu in Bua today.

David Whippy was a trader was born in Nantucket Island in Boston in 1801 and died in Bua in 1871.
 
Chairman of the Descendents of David Whippy Committee in Fiji, Daniel Whippy said the presence of the President signifies a long term relationship between the people of Bau as Whippy was a close friend of Ratu Seru Cakobau.

Whippy said the village of Wainunu in Bua will now be the location of the tombstone and all the Whippy children will now know the importance of this event.
