The Swami Vivekananda College under 19 boys hockey team has upset Saint John’s College from Ovalau 2-1 on penalty strokes to win the Westmere trophy for the first time ever.
SVC captain Jorian Simpson said they just played with confidence throughout the final which ended in the last hour.
The score was locked nil all at full time where both sides were given another ten minutes of extra time but the score remained the same.
Meanwhile in the girls division, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School successfully defended the Westmere trophy after beating Natabua High School 4-2 on penalty strokes.
That game also went into extra time in Lautoka.
