$40M cable to connect Suva with Nuku’alofa
An 827 km Optic Fibre Submarine  Cable, costing $40 million, will be constructed to link Nuku’alofa with Suva. 

FINTEL signed an agreement with Tonga Cable Limited to be the Fiji Landing Party where the cable will terminate.

The link will improve communications, provide high speed internet, and access to the global information infrastructure, for the people of Tonga.

Managing Director for Tonga Cable Limited, Robert Bolouri said with ICT being essential for any country this step will improve Tonga’s economic performance as well.

The cable connection is expected to be completed by March 2013.
