Fiji situation to be discussed at CMAG
The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group is expected to meet on the outskirts of the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this month where Fiji's situation is expected to be discussed.

The 65th Session of the UN General Assembly commences on September 9th with the meeting proper to start on September 22nd.

It has been confirmed that CMAG will meet on September 25th where it will also consider a report from Commonwealth Special Envoy to Fiji Sir Paul Reeves, who was in Fiji earlier this month and held talks with Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

However, it is unlikely that the Commonwealth would change its stance on Fiji's suspension as Commodore Bainimarama revealed after meeting with Sir Paul Reeves in Suva that there was nothing progressive discussed and nothing new was brought up by the Commonwealth that can assist Fiji in its path back to elections in 2014.

Meanwhile, Commodore Bainimarama will lead the Fiji delegation to the 65th Session of the UN General Assembly where he is expected to outline the reforms being undertaken and progress being made towards elections in 2014.
